Reverend Fr. Thomas Crowder

Instructor of Spiritual Formation / Holy Communion

Father Crowder was born and raised on the Oregon Coast. His family were pioneers, being amongst the first settlers in Western Oregon. Ironically, they were early settlers in Virginia, as well, and left there for Oregon, whereas Fr. Crowder now resides in Virginia.

He graduated from North Bend High School, Southwestern Oregon Community College, and Lewis and Clark College, finishing there with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature, and an emphasis in Philosophy. After tramping around the West Coast for several years, he began studying for Holy Orders in Portland, Oregon.

Ordained in one of the Continuing Anglican churches, in AD 1999, he has been in parochial ministry since then, excluding four years spent in a Dominican Monastery in Oregon, adjacent to his hometown. When his work there was completed, having served as Prior General of the Order, he accepted his first Call to a parish in Virginia. He currently serves as Rector of Saint Matthew's Anglican Church, in Newport News, Virginia.

Accepted-into the Orthodox Anglican Church in February of AD 2021, by

The Most Reverend Thomas E. Gordon, he has committed himself to the work and mission of the OAC. Recently appointed as Director of Vocations for the OAC, and realising the need for a close association with 'Saint Andrew's, he has accepted the request to join our faculty. We look-forward to mutually fruitful endeavours, over the years to come.
